The 10-Minute Meal That Soothes My Autoimmune Flare-Ups (and Leaves Almost No Dishes)
Five ingredients, one pan, and a little peace on a flare-up day

Slice-of-Life
I was curled up on the couch, heating pad on my belly, the familiar ache of an autoimmune flare quietly stealing the edges of my day. It wasn’t dramatic—just that bone-deep fatigue, the kind that makes even standing at the stove feel like climbing a mountain.
Dinner? Honestly, it felt optional. My body was asking for gentleness, not a production.
Then I spotted it—a fresh fillet of wild-caught salmon in the fridge, a perfectly ripe avocado, and a sprig of dill I’d forgotten I bought. They looked like they’d conspired just for me. I almost laughed—if food could talk, they’d be saying, “Hey, friend. We’ve got you covered.”
Ten minutes later, I was holding a warm bowl of flaky salmon, creamy avocado, and a whisper of dill. Just five ingredients, one pan, and zero stress.
It wasn’t just dinner—it was a little reminder that even on my low-energy days, I could still care for myself in a way that felt nourishing. My body might flare, but I could still feed it with kindness.
One bowl. Five ingredients. Ten minutes.
And suddenly—I felt seen again.
So here’s the little ritual I turn to on days like this—simple enough to make when I’m running on empty, but nourishing enough to make me feel cared for.
5-Minute Anti-Inflammatory Salmon & Avocado Bowl
Ingredients
1 can (about 5 oz) wild-caught salmon, drained
½ ripe avocado, cubed
1 tsp extra-virgin olive oil (healthy anti-inflammatory fat)
Juice of ½ lemon (brightens flavor and aids digestion)
A few sprigs fresh dill (or substitute dried herbs)
Sea salt + black pepper, to taste
Optional: sprinkle of chia seeds for extra omega-3s
Instructions
1️⃣ Flake the salmon into a bowl.
2️⃣ Gently mash in the avocado.
3️⃣ Drizzle olive oil and lemon juice, then stir to combine.
4️⃣ Season with salt, pepper, and dill. Mix in chia seeds if using.
5️⃣ Eat right out of the bowl—or serve over greens or quinoa for a more “sit-up” meal.
Why It’s Good for You
This little bowl fights inflammation with omega-3-rich salmon and chia seeds, keeps you satisfied with creamy avocado and olive oil, and boosts digestion with lemon and fresh herbs. Best of all, it’s ready in 5 minutes—saving precious energy on busy or flare-up days.
